| Summary, etc. | Abstract

This descriptive study aimed to evaluate the challenges and opportunities of the high school Mathematics teachers in the new normal the Schools Division of Antique for the school year 2023-2024 as a basis for the design of a program for professional development.

This study was conducted from January to March 2024, involved 120 purposively selected mathematics teachers in the Division of Antique. Research data collected through researcher-made instruments underwent rigorous validation processes for content and construct validity, with pilot testing ensuring internal consistency. Statistical analyses included frequency, mean, percentage, Mann Whitney, and Kruskal-Wallis tests, with an alpha level set at .05 and computations performed using SPSS version 23. Mathematics teachers face moderate challenges in access to technology, pedagogy, student engagement, and parental involvement, with critical challenges observed across all age groups. Teachers in smaller schools experience minor technology access issues but moderate challenges in other areas, while those in larger schools face moderate challenges in all domains. The Department of Education provides adequate opportunities across most groups, with smaller schools receiving abundant professional development support. No significant differences in challenges were found across age groups, but significant differences were noted in pedagogy and parental involvement by teaching position. The Mathematics Teachers' Writeshop-Workshop addresses these challenges by enhancing instructional methods, assessment strategies, and parental communication, aiming to improve student learning outcomes.

Keywords: Covid 19, Mathematics Education, technology, pedagogy, assessment, instructional resources |
