Abstract <br/> Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) practices and the adversity leadership of school managers are essential strategies for strengthening response capabilities and leadership effectiveness. These help mitigate the impact of disasters on the educational environment, enhance school resilience, and ensure continuity during times of crisis. This study assessed the DRRM practices and adversity leadership of public secondary school managers in the Division of Antique, Philippines, during the period from February to April 2025. A total of 216 respondents participated, including school managers, DRRM coordinators, senior teachers, and barangay DRRM councilors. Data were collected using standardized instruments adapted from Campilla (2017), Stoltz (2007), and Tolentino (2021).<br/> The study revealed that DRRM practices were moderately implemented, with disaster recovery scoring the lowest. Adversity leadership was generally average, with strengths in control and ownership but average performance in reach and endurance. Significant differences in DRRM practices were observed based on school location, size, type, and position, particularly in the preparedness, prevention, and recovery dimensions. No significant differences in adversity leadership were found across these factors. Additionally, no significant correlation was found between adversity leadership traits and DRRM practices. Respondents perceived DRRM implementation challenges as manageable, with resource limitations identified as the most pressing concern. The study identified disaster recovery as the most critical area needing improvement, serving as the basis for the proposed contingency plan aimed at enhancing school resilience and post-disaster recovery capabilities.<br/> The study concludes that while public secondary schools in Antique demonstrate moderate DRRM practices, significant improvements are needed in disaster recovery and adversity leadership to enhance overall school resilience. It is recommended that the Department of Education institutionalize and implement the proposed contingency plan across all public secondary schools, prioritizing those with historically low preparedness levels or significant vulnerability, to strengthen disaster recovery efforts and leadership competencies.<br/>Keywords: Disaster Risk Reduction Management Practices, Adversity Leadership, Adversity Quotient, Contingency plan, disaster preparedness, disaster prevention and mitigation, disaster response and disaster rehabilitation, and disaster recovery. |
