This study employed an experimental research design to gather data relevant in determining the influence of short-term social media exposure and performance of first year BA Communication Students. The participants were the First(1) Year BA Communication students enrolled at the University of Antique during the first semester of AY 2025-2026. A random sample of 30% of the population particularly 24 participants were randomly selected through fishbowl sampling, across all gender to ensure proportional representation considering their current mid-term grades for the first semester. Students with incomplete grade during the current semester were not included. Participants are randomly assigned to one of three experimental groups. Each group was composed of eight (8) participants for 30 minutes time exposure social media, eight (8) participants for 15- minute time exposure for social media, and eight (8) participants for No social media exposure (control group). The questionnaire was composed of two parts, the first part was the consent letter for the participant and the second part is the performance assessment. The study employed a Kruskal-Wallis H-test to analyze the data. The test determined whether the academic performance of students significantly differs when grouped according to their level of social media exposure. The mean scores of the groups were compared at a 0.05 level of significance. This study adhere to ethical guidelines for research involving First year BA Communication students as participants.
