A well-written police report summarizes the officer's actions and observations chronologically, and gives a detailed account of the crime scene, the testimony of witnesses, and descriptions of the evidence. It is for these reasons that reports have to be accurate and effective to maintain credibility and integrity.

This qualitative study aimed to explore the linguistic deviations of police reports in the province of Antique, Philippines for the Annual Year 2021-2022. It is particularly focused on the dominant linguistic deviations found in the police reports of local police investigators. In addition, the implications were presented to address the need to create a possible intervention activity for police report writing.

The researcher utilized 30 police reports as data and sources of data. Due to the Data Privacy Law, the researcher was limited to secure sample reports. Some of the records requested are exempt from disclosure because they are related to a criminal investigation [Sectior 708 (b) (16)1 of the Right-to-Know Law.

It is evident that grammatical deviances occurred mostly in the reports followed by minimal traces of graphological deviances It was also marked that syntactic deviations were flagrant in the reports. No morphological deviations observed in the reports. Moreover, it is noted that deviations in punctuation marks were also evident.

Implications to language teaching were set forth to provide students with a well-rounded understanding of the importance of linguistic accuracy and sensitivity in professional writing, particularly in high-stakes environments such as law enforcement.

Based on the study's findings, it was concluded that selected police reports were marred with linguistic deviations. Police officers mav have had trouble in putting ideas to come up with well-crafted narratives as reported by their clients. Hence, police officers are encouraged to equip themselves with the necessary training and exposure to police report writing activities to further develop their knowledge and skills in their
work practice.
