It also aimed to find out if parenting style could influence the scholastic performance of the grade six pupils who were enrolled during the school year 1999-2000 when taken as an entire group and when categorized as to gender. Specifically, it sought answers to the questions : 1. What are the parenting styles given to the grade six pupils of Apgahan Elementary School when classified as to gender? 2. What is the level of scholastic performance of the grade six pupils ? 3. Is there a significant relationship between the parenting styles and the shholastic performance of the grade six pupils of Apgahan Elementary School? The present study is a correlational descriptive study. The respondents of this study were the 30 or 77% of the corresponding parents of the grade six pupils of Apgahan Elementary School for the school year 1999-2000. This choice of respondents was done through lottery sampling. They were further classified as an entire group; male and female. The primary instruments used to gather data were the questionnaire-checklist and the pupils' scholastic performance based on their form 138-A which covers from the first grading period only. The statistical tools used in the analysis of data were modal frequency and percentage which served as the basis to determine the parenting style and the scholastic performance of the grade six pupils of Apgahan Elementary School. The scholastic performance rating of grade point average obtained by the grade six pupils were categorized based on the following verbal descriptions: Scholastic Performance Verbal Descriptions 90-95 High Level 85-89 Avergae Level 80-84 Low Level In finding the parenting style of the respondents, the highest frequency and percentage were used. And in level of scholastic performance of the grade six pupils, mean was used.
