Valde 1aSibaom, Antique : bUniversity of Antique, c2026 axv, 125 pages :c 28 cm  aIncludes bibliographical references  aAbstract This study examined how Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies (AB ELS) students at a state university in Western Visayas utilize and view the effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. The research aimed to find out the level of Al tool usage, students' perception of how effective Al is for learning and academic success, the most common AI applications used, and the notable differences and connections between Al usage and perceived effectiveness based on sex, year level, access to technology, and connections between Al usage and perceived effectiveness. The study used a quantitative research design with a descriptive- comparative-correlational approach and involved 135 AB ELS students from first year to third year, identified through stratified random sampling. Researchers collected data through questionnaire checklists and analyzed it using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Kruskal-Wallis H Test, and the Mann-Whitney U test. The findings showed that sex has no bearing on whether an individual would utilize or perceive Al positively, unlike access to technology or year level. Respondents used Al tools frequently and generally saw Al applications as effective tools for academic support. Among the tools, ChatGPT was the most used, followed by Meta Al and Grammarly. The results also indicated that third-year students used Al the most and viewed it as effective, while second-year students reported the least utilization and effectiveness. Furthermore, access to technology significantly influenced students' Al usage and perceptions, but no significant differences were found by sex. Lastly, there is a correlation between the perception and usage of Al tools as students that view Al tools as effective are also more likely to use the technology. Therefore, the researchers conclude that Al and Al tools have now become a part of the modern educational landscape and as such, it is a technology that must be embraced but also regulated by the University through programs that aim to help in its utilization and implementation in the curriculum while maintaining ethical considerations in its use.
