<br/><br/> Abstract<br/>    This study explored the lived experiences of manug-uring (traditional charcoal makers) in Barangay Lacayon, Bugasong, Antique. Specifically, it aimed to understand the socioeconomic realities, challenges, coping mechanisms, and meanings attached to charcoal production as a livelihood. Guided by a qualitative research design using a narrative inquiry approach, the study gathered data through semi-structured interviews with six purposively selected informants who had at least one year of experience in charcoal production and selling. The narratives were analyzed using structural and thematic narrative analysis.<br/><br/>	Findings revealed two major themes: (1) The Cycle of poverty among Manug-uring and (2) Survival and Resilience among Manug-uring. The first themed highlighted the participants experiences of inherited livelihood practices, dependence on multiple income sources, exposure to occupational health risks, low and stagnant income, unfair market conditions, and difficulties arising from government regulations. The second theme emphasized the participants adaptive strategies, including engaging in alternative livelihoods, demonstrating perseverance despite hardships, and adjusting their practices to comply with environmental regulations. The study showed that charcoal production remains an important source of income for many rural families despite its economic, physical, and regulatory challenges.<br/><br/>	The findings suggests the need for government support through sustainable livelihood programs, health and safety interventions, skills training, and inclusive policies that balance environmental protection with the welfare of traditional charcoal makers. Understanding the experiences of manug-uring contributes to broader discussions on rural livelihoods, poverty, resilience, Bugasong, Antique.<br/><br/>Keywords: Manug-uring, traditional charcoal makers, narrative inquiry, rural livelihoods, and poverty.
