520 _aAbstract: The worldwide issue of managing solid waste affects every school including every person on earth. Adapting waste management strategies based on grade levels and students' opinions can foster a sustainable learning environment. This study was conducted to audit a solid waste and determine management practices awareness and effectiveness in Gov. Julio V. Macaya Memorial Comprehensive High School, Division of Antique during the school year 2022-2023. This study used a descriptive-assessment research design. To gather the data, Questionnaire for Awareness and Effectiveness of Solid Waste Management Practices and Checklist for Solid Waste Audit were used. All junior high school (JHS) and senior high school (SHS) students of the school were the respondents of this study. Whereas, fifty (50) JHS and fifty (50) SHS randomly selected students were tapped as participants for awareness and effectiveness of solid waste management practices. Findings revealed that the solid waste composition generated by students are biodegradable, non-biodegradable and recyclable when taken as a whole and when categorized as to grade level is high. Results also revealed that the solid waste generation rate of the school is high. Moreover, the students were highly aware of the solid waste management practices and also showed no significant difference when categorized as to grade level. Furthermore, significant difference in the solid waste composition and generation rate was noted when categorized as to grade level. The solid waste management practices of the school were found out to be highly effective. It is imperative that the school put policies in place that support recycling, trash minimization, and segregation. It was recommended that waste management instruction should be incorporated into programs, increasing students' knowledge and comprehension of environmental issues.
