520			_aAbstract This qualitative research explored the complex dynamics surrounding seawall construction and its consequences on the lives of fisherfolks of the Municipality of Miagao, Iloilo. Employing hermeneutic phenomenology, the study comprehensively analyzed the social, economic, and environmental aspects of seawall construction, aiming to unveil challenges faced by fisherfolks and potential mitigation pathways. Through semi-structured interviews, several themes emerged, including resilience amidst housing changes, health hazards, deteriorating water quality, economic instability, and social disparities. Fisherfolks expressed concerns about restricted access to fishing grounds, disruptions to fishing activities, and cultural and economic displacement. The study highlighted adaptation strategies, such as shifting fishing practices and proposing solutions like alternative docking areas, alternative livelihood promotion, and cooperative formation. Ultimately, the research underscored the necessity for participatory coastal management, emphasizing fisherfolks' involvement in decision-making to ensure equitable and resilient coastal development, preserving livelihood, cultural heritage, and environmental integrity.
